TILT Brass announces its Fall 2012 series or concert events! Highlights include:

  • NYC Premiere of Louis Andriessen’s seminal 1972 work de Volharding [Sep 21]

SCHEDULE
September 5, 2012 – The Stone
TILT Brass celebrates John Cage’s 100th birthday with an all-star line-up of local avant garde heroes. TILT performs an all-brass iteration of Atlas Eclipticalis (1961).

September 21, 2012 – FONT Festival at University Settlement
Dave Douglas’ Festival of New Trumpet (FONT) presents TILT Brass during its 10th anniversary festival. Program includes the world premiere of the next chapter in Nate Wooley’s on-going concept Seven Storey Mountain and the long overdue East Coast Premiere of venerated Dutch composer Louis Andriessen’s de Volharding (1972).

October 27, 2012 – Meta Trombone debut (Greenwich House)
TILT Brass presents the debut of Director Chris McIntyre’s new solo trombone program, Meta Trombone. This event includes world premiere performances of works by Anthony Coleman and McIntyre, as well as the rescheduled US Premiere of UK “new complexity” composer Richard Barrett’s Basalt (1991).

December 7, 2012 – John King’s Astral Epitaphs at Roulette
A sextet of 3 trumpets and trombones revisits John King’s highly acclaimed work. An evening length work that was adumbrated Merce Cunningham Dance Company’s final performances in Dec. 2011, audiences at Roulette will hear this fully expanded 25+ minute tour de force.
